Our missional communities are a great way to do life together, and to build one another up. Not only does this lead to godly, harmonious relationships, but also to a committed focus on community—creating a place for reconciliation, encouragement, familiarity, and vulnerability. We desire to see our church develop meaningful relationships that thrive on prayer and God’s word. Rather than being ‘little churches within a church’, our missional communities exist to help Sunday worshippers follow through on what they have heard from God’s Word on a Sunday. As our missional communities follow through on God’s Word, so they begin:

  • Living as Family

  • Learning as Disciples

  • Leading as Missionary Servants

Children’s ministry

The Children’s Ministry team at GraceCity Church aims to support parents so that their children may grow through the Gospel. We also strive to foster a culture that places greater emphasis on teaching children about the centrality of the Gospel in their lives.

(For children from nursery age to around 9 years old)
Our Children’s Ministry carries out the following activities:　

  • We teach with the Gospel at the centre.

  • We read Bible stories together.

  • We pray and worship together.

  • We set aside time to reflect on what it means to entrust one’s life to Christ.

As children get older, we encourage them to sing hymns alongside the adults during worship.
We provide discipleship training within the church to help children live lives centred on the Gospel.

Youth

In Japan, there are few young Christians, and they are scattered across various locations. With the average church size standing at 35 people, it is currently difficult for the younger generation to find a sense of community within their own churches, develop a sense of belonging, and experience the joy of following Jesus. At the same time, in today’s rapidly changing world, even adults find it difficult to understand and connect with teenagers; at times, they may even find this challenging with their own children. However, God has called parents to pass on the Gospel to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:1–9). He has also entrusted the church with the mission to engage in discipleship ministry (Psalm 78:4).

At Grace City Church’s Youth Ministry, we learn in a fun way through the Catechism (which focuses on the Gospel and teaches the core teachings of the Bible in a Q&A format), prayer cards and games. Youth meetings are held on the first and third Sundays of each month from 9.30 am to 10.30 am. The age range is 9 to 18 years old. We are also looking for adult volunteers. ‘CONNECT’ is looking for participants in Years 4 to 6 of primary school, as well as adult volunteers.
